Quiet Komatipoort

A lot of people - especially railroad workers - died here because of malaria in the 1800's when the Dutch Railroad Company where busy building the railway from Mozambique to Pretoria. This town is probably the most consistent hottest town in South Africa. It has an average summer temperature of around 33°C and a very nice 27°C in winter.
Malaria does occur in this are so when visiting Komatipoort you should take the usual precautions - insect repellent, long sleeved clothes, close windows etc. . If in any doubt, consult a pharmacist or doctor. Always carry insect repellent for your comfort.
This quiet little town is where the Crocodile and the Komati Rivers meet before going into Mozambique. Here you experience perfect harmony of people living with nature. It is also just 8km from Crocodile Bridge - the most southerly gate into the Kruger National Park - and 3km from the Lebombo Border Post - into Mozambique.
Today Komatipoort is mainly a railway and customs centre with local agriculture producing vegetables, sugar and subtropical fruits for tourist - the nature!
Things to do in Komatipoort - other than staying under the aircon!
- If you like playing golf, they have a lovely golf course that provides a magnificent view of the Kruger National park as you play. It is a nine hole golf course
- For the fisherman you can go and try your strength against a tiger fish which is much known for its fighting spirit.
- If you are a bird lover remember our binoculars as there are numerous birds to be found amongst or in the reeds

This is an informal thatched private lodge on the banks of the Crocodile River overlooking the Kruger Park
- Trees Too Guesthouse
They only have 8 rooms which is set under thatch next to a sparkling pool. They also have a small restaurant and bar but if you would rather go to another restaurant it is only a five minute walk away.
- Komati River Chalets
They are set on 5 hectors piece of tranquil bushveld on the banks of the Komati River. From your chalet it is only a short walk to the river but don't go swimming as there are crocodiles and hippopotamus in the waters. They offer self catering and Bed & Breakfast Chalets.
