Chapters is a small rustic restaurant in the heart of Crowthorne's (Midrand) residential area. It shares a property with a few other shops - Off The Street (second hand goods store), Mystic (esoteric shop) and Memories (antiques shop). It is surrounded by beautiful gardens with roses and lavender.

Rating the restaurant:

  • Service - excellent
  • Family friendly
  • Prices - reasonable
  • Food - excellent
  • Ambience - quiet and rural

This quaint restaurant is owner run and has only 2 waiters and a few kitchen staff. Service is always fast and friendly. Tables are available inside or outside under umbrellas. A small playground is available for children - right next to the outside seating. Bookings can be made for corporate functions or intimate lunches.

Live performances by Liquid Acoustic on selected Sundays can be attended free of charge. (Liquid Acoustic consists of two members from the band Torment).

What is on the menu?

Breakfast

  • Hearty portions of bacon, egg, toast etc is served.

  • The steak and egg dish gets a double thumbs up rating.

Lunch

  • Light lunches with salads (chicken, steak, bacon - all of which are delicious) and toasted or normal sandwiches.

  • Full lunches with hamburgers.

Dessert

  • Cakes are baked daily and is therefore fresh. The house specialities are chocolate cake (if it's with condensed milk under the icing) and lemon meringue pie (made by the owner) or ice cream on a hot summer's day. • They are fully licensed to serve alcohol.

Prices

  • All prices are reasonable. No main dish is above R50-00.

Directions from the N1 (Johannesburg's side):

  • Take the New Road off ramp and turn left.

  • Pass the shopping centres and robots.

  • Pass one stop street.

  • At the next stop street (opposite Plant Park) turn left.

  • Turn right into the first road.
